September 2020 - Letter to Parents

8th September 2020

Dear Parent / Carer

Well term is finally under way and it has been fantastic to welcome the children back. I have been particularly pleased with how many of them have returned and we started off last week with 95.8% attendance. We have put everything in place that we can to ensure that all the children are safe and it has been good to see everyone settle into the new routines.

I would like to remind you of a number of different routines that we now have in place to ensure that the school can continue to run as smoothly as possible.

  • I am concerned that a number of parents have told me they are not receiving any messages or information. We are sending out information regularly via the parentmail system, including all our Covid risk assessment and timings of the school day. If you are not receiving these then we do not have the right email address for you. Please make sure that we have your most up to date email address. Any information that I send out is also on the school website If you are not getting any information PLEASE LET US KNOW!

  • Drop off in the morning for Years 1 to 6 is between 8.35am and 8.50am. We open the gates at 8.35am and there are plenty of staff available to guide your children to their classrooms. Please feel free to bring your child in at any point between these times. We have done this to make the morning less crowded so please try not to arrive before 8.35am and this will avoid you waiting around.

  • Whilst we are encouraging a one way system from Denmark Street to Sidney Street, we recognise that this is difficult for some parents. If you are unable to manage this then we have opened as many gates as we can, please leave from the nearest one.

  • At present we are not allowing any parents on site unless they have an appointment. Please can you also respect social distancing when coming into the school office; we can only have two parents in there at any one time. So please be patient if you ring the bell and the door does not open straight away.

  • Sadly this year, we will not be able to have large family groups when the photographer comes into school this week. The children will have individual photos and photos with their siblings if they are in school but this will be all.

I will continue to write to you on a regular basis to keep you updated and to address any concerns that you may have. In the meantime if you have ANY concerns please come and let us know, we are outside on the gate every day. You will find we are more effective than a comment on Facebook!

Thank you for your attention.

Pete Talbot
