Covid Update

23rd November 2020

Dear Parent / Carer

Covid Update

I hope you all continue to be safe and well. I just wanted to update you on the situation regarding Covid at Castle Hill as I know many of you are anxious about the situation.

As you know, at present we do not have any Year 1 children or staff in school as they are isolating until Friday 27th November. To the best of my knowledge all children and staff remain in good health. We have had one other confirmed case amongst the children, bringing the total in this Year group to two. However, I am pleased to say that both children are fine and have suffered nothing more than very mild symptoms. We have no other reported cases at this time.

For those of you who are reluctant to send your children into school, I would like to reassure you that we are making the school as safe an environment as possible and we are following Government guidelines to the letter. Research is showing us that children are not at any real risk from Covid unless you have a letter stating that they are ‘extremely clinically vulnerable’. Although I understand that many of you are more concerned for other adults or elderly relatives in your family.

As the Government has decided that schools should remain open, I would like to think they are making this decision based on facts. I feel it is unlikely they would keep schools open if there was any real risk. We may also be living with this pandemic for many months to come and I am concerned that some children are missing way too much of their education.

I have two of my own children in full time education and I am sending them in every day. It is my opinion that my children are far more at risk from a lack of education than they are from Covid. I know this is not how everyone feels and I fully respect that you may not feel the same way. However the fact remains that unless your child’s year group bubble is closed, or your family is having to self-isolate, all children are still expected to attend school.

Please contact me by phone, email or in person if you want to discuss anything further.

Yours sincerely

Pete Talbot
