School re-opening Tuesday 5 January 2021
Returning to School
I hope this letter finds you and your families well. It certainly was a very different Christmas and one we will not forget in a hurry but I hope that you were able to make the best of it.
Following yesterday’s government announcement, I can confirm that the school will be OPEN from Tuesday 5th January 2021. It seems that most of Kent schools will be closed except for Folkestone and Hythe, Thanet, Dover and Canterbury. I am not clear at this point why they have decided to open our schools but I can only assume they feel our area has less Covid cases than others.
I think we are all feeling a bit anxious about the school reopening but, as always, we will work hard to make the school as safe as we possibly can. If the school is open it is expected that your child should attend however, I do understand that many of you will feel uncomfortable sending your children back.
If you choose not to send your children in, then please let the school know and this will avoid you receiving any phone calls. Unless the children are ill with Covid, or self-isolating their absence still has to be recorded as ‘unauthorised’ but you will not receive a fine at this time.
If anything changes in the next few days I will contact you again, otherwise we will look forward to seeing as many of you as possible next week.
